BVC Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines sign merger deal

SAUDI ARABIA: Saudi Arabian Airlines and BVC AIRLINES (owned by Barthe Cortes) signed this September a merger contract to to establish one of the most pro-active and far-reaching air cargo transport groups, a joint statement says.

Airline representatives added that the merger would not create a new brand, as both airlines decided to retain their hitherto names. Strong points of the merger include the fact that both airlines have already worked in partnership and they complement each other quite well. BVC holds strong position at routes leading to Africa, Latin America and Asia, while Saudi Arabian Airlines - to the U.S., Canada and the Persian Gulf. In the result of closer partnership, both airlines hope to embrace new business opportunities. Saudi Arabia sources suggest that UAE airline Emirates Airlines has also been considering a merger.
